Barnut ( German: Barnuta ; until 1193 , Rugen - ca. 1236 , Gristov ) - Prince of Rugen from 1218 to 1221 , son of Prince Yaromar I and Princess Hildegard of Denmark , founder of the background of the Gristov , a secondary branch of the Rügen House.

Biography
Barnuta was born in the second half of the 12th century in the principality of Rügen. He was the son of Jaromar I, Prince Rugen and his first wife, Princess Hildegarde of Denmark. The first mention of it in a written source refers to 1193 .
OK. 1200 year, he received a inheritance, the area between the river Rick and Stralsund - Gistrov and the island of Koos. He managed to protect these lands from the claims of the Dukes of Pomerania . After the death of his father, Jaromar I in 1218, Barnut became the prince of Rugen, but in 1221 he lost the throne to Wislaw I , and until his death formally remained co-ruler of his brother. He retired to his inheritance, where he founded the castle Gardist, or Garchen.
Barnuta died in 1236 in Girov.
Descendants
According to the Pomeranian Chronicle by Thomas Kantsov, Barnut was married to Princess Slawomir Gückowski, daughter of Mislav II, Prince Gützkowski, from whom he had two sons, who became the founders of von Gristov, a side branch of Rügen House.
