Biography

Born into a peasant family. He had older and younger sisters. In early childhood, he was taken by parents to Ufa . My father worked as the head of the Bashles motorbase, and my mother worked as a seamstress in the factory.

He graduated from high school with a gold medal.

Pupil M.A. Lavrentiev . In 1952 he graduated from the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Moscow State University . In 1955, after completing graduate school at the same faculty and defending a Ph.D. thesis [1] , he was sent to work at the VNIIEF , now the city of Sarov, Nizhny Novgorod Region . In 1966 he headed the mathematical department of the RFNC-VNIIEF. Subsequently, the deputy scientific adviser for mathematical research, the main scientific researcher. Doctor of Sciences (thesis on special topics, defended in 1970).

The central place in the scientific work of I. D. Sofronov was occupied by the development of numerical methods for solving multidimensional non-stationary problems of gas dynamics and heat transfer in connection with the solution of problems of the nuclear industry. He was also engaged in mathematical modeling in other fields [2]

Professor of the Sarov Institute of Physics and Technology, creator (1991) and head of the Department of Applied Mathematics, SarPTI.

Under the direction of I. D. Sofronov, about 100 candidate and 14 doctoral dissertations were completed in the mathematical department of the RFNC-VNIIEF.
