Since 1998, the artistic director and chief conductor of the orchestra is Yuri Simonov , People's Artist of the USSR.

History

Created in September 1951 by the merger of the Small Symphony Orchestra and the Radio Committee Opera Orchestra.

In 1953 as part of the Moscow Philharmonic . Since 1973 - academic.
