Ulyas Voitto Pulkkis ( Fin. Uljas Voitto Pulkkis ; born July 22, 1975 , Helsinki ) is a Finnish composer.
He studied at the Faculty of Mathematics of the University of Helsinki, while at the same time privately studying music composition. In 1997 , he entered the composing department of the Sibelius Academy (class of Tapani Liangsiyo ) and made his debut with his Octet in the final of the national composers competition.
In 1999 , the Pulkkis concert for piano and chamber orchestra “Tears of Ludovico” received the first prize of the Queen Elizabeth Competition . Other works by Pulkkis, especially the violin concerto “The Enchanted Garden” ( 2000 ), also received pan-European recognition.
Pulkkis' music combines interest in Baroque roots and serial technology .
