The pre-season preparation of the team was divided into 2 stages, the first - a training camp in the German city of Füssen, playing a friendly match with the Red Bull club (Salzburg), and the second stage - preparation for the season in Omsk and participation in 2 pre-season tournaments: Chelyabinsk Governor's Cup region (4th place), "Stone Flower" Tournament - prize of the Governor of the Sverdlovsk Region (winner).
The team played their first official match in the Continental Hockey League on September 11 at Arena Omsk, defeating Spartak (Moscow) with a score of 4: 3.

- July 20 : Vanguard came out of vacation and conducted the first training.
- July 24 - August 7 : Training camp in Germany.
- August 31 : Vanguard signed Slovak defender Radoslaw Suchy for a period of 1 year.
- September 6 : Vanguard met with fans.
- September 7 : The death of HC Lokomotiv in a plane crash , Vanguard expressed condolences to the families of the victims, HC Lokomotiv and the fans.
- September 10 : Omsk said goodbye to Alexander Vyukhin . The requiem was attended by the leadership and players of the Vanguard.
- September 16 : Alex Kalyuzhny scored his 100th goal for Vanguard.
- October 5 : By mutual agreement of the parties, the contract of Radoslaw Suha with Vanguard was terminated.
- October 26 : Vanguard and the Club’s General Manager Anatoly Bardin terminated the employment relationship by agreement of the parties. Konstantin Bilan has been appointed Acting Chief Manager of the Vanguard.
- November 4 : In the match Dynamo (Riga) - Avangard (Omsk Region) Roman Chervenka scored the 10,000th goal in the history of the club in the country's championships since 1955.
- December 1 : Vanguard and SKA made an exchange of defense players, Andrey Pervyshin and Yuri Alexandrov, respectively.
- December 7 : Vanguard and striker Dmitry Vlasenkov terminated the contract by mutual agreement of the parties.
- December 8 : The Supervisory Board of NP Avangard Insurance Company appointed Alexander Sterlyagov as Club President.
- December 8 : Forward Denis Platonov is listed on the Waiver List.
- December 12 : By the decision of the Supervisory Board of NP Avangard Insurance Company, the coaching staff of Avangard HC, led by Rostislav Chad, was dismissed.
- December 15 : Finnish specialist Raimo Summanen appointed as the new head coach of Avangard HC.
- December 20 : Eduard Zankovec was appointed assistant coach of Vanguard Raimo Summanen.

- January 11 : Vanguard signed center forward Mikhail Zhukov .
- January 13 : Avangard HC and defender Dmitry Ryabykin terminated the contract by mutual agreement of the parties.
- January 15 : Defender of the Novosibirsk “Siberia” Georgy Puyats moved to the Vanguard.
- January 21 : Three Vanguard players took part in the KHL Stars Match in Riga.
- March 5 : Vanguard won the quarter-finals of the Vostok conference against Amur (Khabarovsk) with a score of 4-0.
- March 22 : Vanguard won the 1/2 finals of the Vostok conference against Metallurg (Magnitogorsk) with a score of 4-1.
- March 31 : Forward Alexander Popov in Chelyabinsk played the 643rd match with Vanguard and set a new record for Vanguard players in the number of matches played in the top division of Russian hockey.
- April 4 : Beating April 4 on the ice of the Arena - Omsk Chelyabinsk Tractor 3-1, Avangard won 9th time in regular time in the playoffs and set a new club record.
- April 6 : By the decision of the Supervisory Board of NP Avangard Insurance Company Vladimir Ivanovich Kapulovsky was appointed as the Head Manager of Avangard Holding Company .
- April 6 : Vanguard won the final of the Vostok conference against Tractor (Chelyabinsk) with a score of 4-1.
- April 19 : In Dynamo - Vanguard match in Moscow, striker Alexander Popov scored his 100th goal for Vanguard
- April 19 : Vanguard led 3-1 in the final series.
- April 21 : Doping test of Vanguard defender Anton Belov was positive.
- April 25 : Vanguard lost in the series for the Gagarin Cup to Dynamo Moscow with a score of 3-4 and won the silver medal of the championship .
