Creativity
From the very beginning, the group plays on the drum kit, at concerts - paired with session drummers (2008–2010 - with Biscuits, 2011–2014 - with Daren Fyfer , from 2014 - with Tyler Mahurin). Da Kurlzz usually does not perform vocal parts, participates in songs: Christmas in Hollywood , City, Undead, My Town, Day of the Dead, The Natives, No.5, Scene For Dummies, Been To Hell, From The Ground, Disease, How We Roll. He also played several episodic roles in the movie.
The first mask of Da Kurlzz was an ordinary white theater mask, which can be seen in some photos and in the first video clip for the song "No.5". Before the release of the Swan Songs album, the mask changed: the eyes had a sly squint, and the mouth on one side smiled brazenly, and on the other hand expressed sadness. In 2010, after the next change in the group’s image, the concept of the Da Kurlzz mask did not change, only the face relief became more complicated, and luminous elements appeared: veins protruding on the “evil” side, as well as a dividing line between the two halves.
Since 2013, the mask has retained its old features, but now has become more formidable. There were even more wrinkles, and now the mask has two new halves. Sad with an open mouth and charred, angry. In 2015, he has a mask dividing into two halves: Left - Black, funny; and the right one is white, sad.
In 2017, the group began shooting new clips for future singles, in which he did not participate.
In October 2017, he made an appeal in which he stated that he wanted to pursue a solo career. There was no conflict between him and the Hollywood Undead. Matthew, having left the group, maintained friendly relations with all the participants:
First of all, I would like to say that I am proud of what I have been able to do with the Hollywood Undead over the past 12 years. However, it's time to do something new, so our paths with HU diverge. I am glad that during this time I was able to gain experience, travel the world and spend the best days of my life, learning from artists whom I respect and admire. Hollywood Undead is a unique band. We overcame countless obstacles and made history together! I wish all the best to the children and their families. Thanks to fans around the world for sharing your love. You are forever in my heart. I apologize for my long absence here, I know a lot has happened in the last couple of months, but now I’ve returned, and I promise you, nothing will be the same as before.

Masks
- 2005-2007: A simple white theater mask with narrow slits for the eyes, two round openings for the nose and a small mouth.
- 2008-2009: White mask, the right side of which is angry, and the left is grinning. The left side has a clear resemblance to Michael Jackson
- 2010-2012: The white mask, the left part of which is fun and the right part is evil. There were more wrinkles on the mask, red glowing streaks appeared on the “evil” half. The line in the middle of the mask that separates the two halves also shines. The hair is disheveled.
- 2013-2014: The mask retained its old features, but now has become more formidable. There were even more wrinkles, and now the mask has two new halves: sad, frightened with an open mouth and charred, angry.
- 2015-2017: The mask has two halves: the left is sad (white) and the right is funny (black). The relief is more detailed, there are many wrinkles and folds.
