Biography
Representative of the gentry clan coat of arms Radwan Sovitiy . The son of the subordinate of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania Philip-Nereusz Olizar and Ludwika nee Nemirovich-Shield, daughter of Krzysztof Nemirovich-Shield . The elder brother of the Polish poet Gustav Olizar and Adelaide, wife of Count Konstantin Przhedetsky. Uncle of the historian Alexander Przhedetsky [1] .
He graduated from the Lyceum in Kremenets and Vilnius University .
Political Activities
Senator Coughland of the Kingdom of Poland . Member of the conspiracy to prepare an uprising in the Volyn province , a delegate (ambassador) from whom he was in the Sejm in 1831.
After the suppression of the Polish uprising (1830-1831) N. Olizar was arrested, fled the borders of the Russian Empire and was in exile in France, where he was an active member of the conservative wing of the Polish emigration - “The Monarchist Partnership of the Third of May” (“ Hotel Lambert ”) and supporter of A. Czartoryski .
From 1837 he headed the secret insurgent - monarchist Polish organization, and in 1843-1845 - "The Monarchist Partnership of the Third of May."
Creativity
His "Polish Memoirs" (1844), translated into German and French, which described the uprising in Volhynia, the conclusion and escape of the author, gained great fame.
In addition, he was the author of a collection of satirical miniatures from the life of the landowners “The Diary of the Original” (1853), based mainly on memoirs.
N. Olizar was also a talented landscape painter.
