AN / SSQ-58


AN / SSQ-58 (current version AN / SSQ-58B) is an American lightweight reusable sonar buoy for monitoring the acoustic situation in shallow waters in the frequency range 10 Hz - 20 kHz. Designed for discharge from aircraft and helicopters [1] .

It is a float with a length of 106.7 cm and a mass of 16.3 kg, equipped with a radio reflector and flashing navigation light. The battery is replaceable, providing continuous operation for 24 hours. For the anchor and cable systems, performance is guaranteed for 30 days at depths from 6 to 180 m and flow speeds of 0-6 knots. The transceiver located in the float provides transmission on one of 31 radio channels and reception of radio commands.
