Julia Cornelia Paula ( Latin Julia Cornelia Paula ) - wife of the Roman emperor Heliogabal .
Genus Paula came from Syria. Her father was the praetor and praetor prefect Julius Cornelius Pavel, but his origin is not known. Paula received a good education. In 219, Julia Mesa (elder sister of the Roman Empress Julia Domna ) arranged a wedding for Paula with her grandson, the new Roman emperor Heliogabal. A magnificent wedding was celebrated in Rome , where Paula received the honorary title of Augusta.
At the beginning of 220, Heliogabal, after arriving from Asia, divorced Paula. There were no children in the marriage. After a divorce from Paula, the emperor married the vestal of Julia Aquila Severus. This marriage aroused indignation due to the membership of the North in vestals who were forbidden to marry. After the divorce, Heliogabal stripped Paulo of the title of Augusta. Nothing more is known about her.
