The Eurovision Song Contest 1973 became the 18th Eurovision Song Contest . It took place on April 7, 1973 in the city of Luxembourg ( Luxemburg ) on the stage of the New Theater. Malta and Austria decided not to participate in the competition, but Israel joined the participants, as a result of which security measures had to be strengthened. In accordance with the changes in the rules, now the singer himself could choose the language of the song. Luxembourg won the second year in a row with the song “Tu te reconnaîtras” performed by Anna-Maria David . Spanish performers, performing with the song “Eres Tu” and taking the second place, were accused of plagiarism in relation to the Yugoslav song “Brez besed”, performed at Eurovision in 1966 , but they were not disqualified in relation to them.
