History
Team Building
In Israel, with its southern climate, winter sports were not popular, but in April 1986 in the suburbs of Haifa, Kiryat Motzkin , a small area for ice skating was opened. This can be called the year of birth of Israeli hockey. Hockey classes began, which in 1987 continued under the guidance of Canadian specialist Paul Schindman. Skaters trained there too. In 1988, an association of ice hockey and figure skating was formed. In the same year, another rink was opened in the city of Bat Yam, and in the 1989/1990 season the Israeli team held its first international match against the Canadian UN team, which it lost with a score of 2: 20 [3] . The impetus for the development of hockey was given by the repatriation to Israel when hockey players from the USSR and Canada arrived in the country and in 1990 the first national championship was held. In 1991, the Israel Hockey and Figure Skating Association (since 1994, the Israel Hockey Federation) joined the International Ice Hockey Federation.
1992—2005
In 1992, the Israeli team for the first time took part in the World Cup, held in South Africa. In 1994, the first ice palace Canada Center was opened in the city of Metula . The most successful year for hockey players from Israel was 2005 . They took 1st place in Group B of the second division of the World Cup and moved to the first division. In August 2005, the Israeli team took part in the Spartak Cup.
2006 - p.t.
In 2011, the Israelis took first place in the third division, having won the largest victory in their history, with a score of 26: 2 over the Greek team. In 2012, blue and white, played in the second division, taking 5th place in group B. The best scorer in the team was Eli Shcherbatov 9 goals and 5 assists. In 2013, after winning the Group B tournament, the Israelis won the right to play in Group A of the second division for the next year, and in 2019, Israeli hockey players repeated this success. The leader in the number of matches held for the national team was Sergey Frenkel, he also leads in the number of points scored (goal + pass). He scored 109 points, playing for the country's main team.
