About the album
The album was originally called Breakin 'The Chains and was released in 1981 by Carerre Records. This version of the album was much different from its more famous American version. The song "Paris Is Buring" was simply called "Paris" and was presented in a studio version. The original album featured the song "We're Illegal", which later turned into "Live To Rock (Rock To Live)". The cover, the order of the songs and the mixing also differed.
In 1983, the album was reissued in the USA by Elektra Records . On the Billboard 200 chart, the album reached 136th line [1] . The title track "Breaking The Chains" hit the 62nd line of the greatest hard rock songs according to VH1 [2] . The label considered the album a failure, and Elektra Records wanted to break the contract with Dokken, but the bandβs management convinced the label that the band had the potential to create a more successful album, which was subsequently confirmed by Tooth and Nail .
