Biography
Born in 1906 in an assimilated family. In Kalish she joined the group of the socialist Zionist youth movement “Ha-Shomer ha-tzair”, which was originally created on the initiative and support of the Jewish Agency. Immigrated to Palestine and joined the pioneer organization that founded the kibbutz Mishmar Haemek in northern Israel, on the western edge of the Jezreel Valley.
Together with her group, Zosha built roads in Afula, where she met Simha Dayamanta (she soon broke up with him). All 1926 in the kibbutz Dalet there was an ideological struggle. Leopold Trepper , a friend of one of the members of the group, came to participate in these disputes. That is how Zosha met Trepper and, on his initiative, joined the Palestinian Communist Party . Together with him, she went to Tel Aviv , where she joined the Ihud communist organization founded by him.
In Tel Aviv, Zosha received a letter from her father stating that her sister Manya was seriously ill and completely stopped eating. She wrote to her friend Yudka: "Kalish is a place where they leave, not where they come." But because of her sister, she returned to Poland on the Polonia ship.
Later, she moved to Brussels and settled on the street de Atrebat, at 101, in the same apartment as Rita Arnu and radio operators David Cami , Johann Wenzel . From this apartment they contacted the Soviet embassy in London . In Belgium, Zosha used the pseudonym “Anna”.
On the night of December 12-13, 1941, Sofia was arrested by the police: the rout of the Red Chapel began. However, Zosha refused to extradite anyone in prison. September 29, 1942 Sofia committed suicide.
