Biography
Jean-Jacques Annaud was born on October 1, 1943 in France . He studied at the school Vozhirar , studied literature at the Sorbonne , entered the Institute of Higher Film Education (IDHEC). He graduated in 1964 . In 1965 he served in Cameroon . After shooting television commercials and educational films for the French army .
The debut film “ Black and White in Color ” ( 1976 ) was not a success in France, but in 1977 received an Oscar as the best foreign film in the United States . Jean Bouise , who starred in his second film " Blow Head " ( 1979 ), receives the European award "Cesar" . “The Fight for Fire” ( 1981 ) received two “Cesars” - for the best film of the year and direction. In the film adaptation of the novel by Umberto Eco “The Name of the Rose” , famous Hollywood actors Sean Connery and Christian Slater were filmed. The film was released in English and received "Cesar" as the best film in a foreign language.
Anno becomes a pioneer in the development of new digital technology IMAX 3D and creates in it the first in the history of world cinema game picture “ Wings of Courage ” ( 1995 ) lasting about 45 minutes.
Recently, the director lives and works in Los Angeles. He is the chairman of French Hollywood Circle - an organization that brings together more than 130 French professionals working in the film industry in Hollywood.
