Career
2003-2009: debut and breakthrough success
Gummy debuted in 2003 with the album “Like Them” . Thanks to the success of other colleagues in the agency, her second studio album “It's Different” was released on September 9, 2004. The title track of the album, “Memory Loss” (in Korean: 기억 상실; in Russian: Memory Loss) brought her success and recognition, which is why Gummy won the main prize (Bonsang) at the 19th Golden Disk Awards. In the same year, for the same song, the singer received an award in the "Popularity on Mobile Resources" category at the "M.net KM Music Festival" Music Festival.
She released her fourth album , Comfort, on May 12, 2008, and this was her first release in the past three years. The release of the album was postponed several times, as Gummy wanted to present high-quality music that would demonstrate its professional growth. [2] In the recording of the track “I'm Sorry” (in Korean: 미안 на; in Russian: Sorry), which was released as a separate single, TOP , the rapper of Big Bang , took part; he also starred in a music video with Sandara Pak from 2NE1 . A week after the release, the song settled on the tops of 5 music charts. [3]
2010: Return and Loveless mini-album
On April 12, 2010, YG Entertainment announced the return of several of their artists to the stage almost simultaneously, including Gummy and her colleagues Big Bang , 2NE1 , Se7en . A week later, news surfaced that Gummy would release a mini-album called “Loveless” (in Russian: Unloved). The title track of the album, as well as the music video shot on it, were released on April 21. The official release of the Loveless mini-album took place on April 29, and promotion in its support began in May.
She also released several more music videos on the tracks from the album, and performed on stage with the song “There Is No Love”.
2011: Japan Debut
Having lived in Japan for several years to improve her Japanese language and feel the culture of the country as a whole, Gummy finally felt confident enough for a debut in Japan. On October 15, 2011, she released a music video for the Japanese version of her Korean hit “I'm Sorry.” In the recording of the track, as well as in the filming of the music video, TOP from Big Bang again took part. 2013: 10th Anniversary and End of Collaboration with YG Entertainment
2013 marked the 10th anniversary of Gummy's creative work, which she celebrated with a fan meeting.
In the winter of the same year, Gummy released the soundtrack for the Korean series "This Wind Blows This Winter" [5] . The soundtrack titled “Snow Flower” became a hit, taking first place on the Gaon and Instiz charts. Gummy performed with "Snow Flower" on the music show "Inkigayo" [6] .
The singer also released her second Japanese mini-album, “Fate (s).” Gummy was directly involved in producing the album, collaborating with producer Jeff Miyahara, who worked with such stars as Amuro Namie , V6 , KAT-TUN and other popular Japanese artists. Gummy also recorded a duet song with Tae Sung from BIGBANG .
In October 2013, Gummy signed a contract with C-JeS Entertainment, thereby completing its collaboration with YG Entertainment . [one]
