Biography
Petr Bochok was born on March 3, 1925 in the village of Obrazhievka (now Shostka district of Sumy region of Ukraine ) in a working family. In 1940 he graduated from seven classes of the school, in 1942 - the vocational school in Novosibirsk . He worked as a fitter at the Novosibirsk plant. In November 1943 he was called up for service in the Red Army . Since January 1944 - on the fronts of World War II. Participated in battles on the 1st Belorussian Front , was wounded twice. By August 1944, the guard sergeant Pyotr Bochok commanded the division of the 76th Guards Rifle Regiment of the 27th Guards Rifle Division of the 4th Guards Rifle Corps of the 8th Guards Army of the 1st Belorussian Front. He distinguished himself during the crossing of the Vistula [1] .
On August 1, 1944, crossing the Vistula in the group in the area of the city of Magnuszew ( Poland ), Bochk captured the bridgehead on the west bank of the river, which held reinforcements until approach. In battle, he destroyed a firing point and several enemy soldiers [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 24, 1945, for the “courage and bravery shown during the crossing of the Vistula and holding the captured bridgehead” of the guard, Sergeant Pyotr Bochok was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal number 5867 [1] .
In 1944, Bochok graduated from junior lieutenant courses. He participated in the liberation of Poznan , the assault on Berlin . After the war he continued his service in the Soviet army. Since 1948 he served in the bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR , rose to the rank of police colonel. In 1954 he joined the Communist Party . In 1960 he graduated from the Law Faculty of Lviv State University . He lived in Lviv [1] . He died on February 9, 2018. He was buried at the Goloskovsky cemetery .
