The name of the ridge is formed from the names of two orographic units: the Ergak massif and the Targak-Taiga ridge, which are now considered as a single whole. The name Ergak from Khakass. irgek, ergik "thumb", that is, "a mountain like a finger"; Targak-Taiga from Turk. targak “crest” and tuvin. taiga "highlands covered with forest" [2] .
Located in the southern part of the Krasnoyarsk Territory and in the Republic of Tuva . Length over 200 km, height up to 2500 m. Rocks: metamorphic schists and granites . The relief is sharply dissected mid-mountain.
On the slopes (up to heights of about 1800 m), dark coniferous taiga from Siberian cedar and fir, higher subalpine meadows, alpine tundra and Kurums [3] .
The ridge is mentioned in the story of Vladimir Chivilikhin "Silver Rails". Before Tyva became part of Russia, the USSR state border passed along the ridge (which is also reflected in the story of Chivilikhin).
