The Independence Monument was opened on the Republic Square on December 16, 1996 by decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Abishevich Nazarbayev [1] . The head of the author's group was the honored architect of the republic, a descendant of Chokan Valikhanov Shota Valikhanov. The authors group included sculptors Adilet Zhumabaev, Nurlan Dalbaev and architect Kazybek Zharylgapov. The monument was also designed and built with the co-authorship of Kaldybai Montakhayev, Murat Mansurov, Azat Bayarlin, Kazybek Satybaldin. The idea of creating the Independence Monument came to the President of the Republic during a trip to Egypt in 1993, in the city of Luxor, where there is a monument in honor of independence by Egypt. During this trip, Nursultan Abishevich was accompanied by Shota Valikhanov, who proposed creating such a monument in Kazakhstan. The exposition of the complex is stretched horizontally to 180 meters. The center of the composition is a vertical plastic stele, reminiscent of the relief Mangyshlak kulpytasy , and has a height of 28 meters. It ends with the “Golden Man” (6 meters high) - a ruler who standing up controls the winged leopard and symbolizes the solid state power on the Kazakh land. The stele is mounted on a semicircular pedestal, which is located in the center of a tiled circular platform. The stele fixes a certain point in space, located on the background of two high-rise buildings. The closer we get to her, the sharper and more dynamic she rushes into the sky. The words (in Kazakh and Russian) are carved in the lower part of the stele: "On December 25, 1990, the state sovereignty of Kazakhstan was proclaimed." "December 16, 1991 declared the state independence of Kazakhstan." At the foot of the stele, on the stylobate, there is a sculptural group consisting of allegorical figures of the “Sage - Heaven”, “Mother Earth” and two children on foals. The figures are located on four cardinal points, from where life-giving moisture comes from, making the earth fruitful. Horse riders symbolize the youth and great future of our republic. On the other hand, father, mother, and children make up the family — the foundation of the state. These figures fit into a square representing stability and durability. On both sides of the stele horseshoe-shaped, in a circle, there are 10 bas-reliefs that reveal the history of Kazakhstan from ancient times to the present day. The number 10 is not accidental: according to Pythagoras, it is a number of prosperity, prosperity, strength and power. Of course, here there is not a chronological order of presentation of events, but an artistic-plastic expression of its individual bright stages.
