Gromov, Semyon Illarionovich

Semyon Illarionovich Gromov (1909-1982) - Soviet athlete-city-goose, together with I. Lapitsky, S. Shpakovsky and I. Filatov was one of the initiators of the creation of club teams in Moscow.

Achievements

In 1949, Semyon Gromov was the first among the city ​​dwellers to be awarded the highest rank of “Honored Master of Sports of the USSR” [1] .

He was one of the best city dwellers in the pre-war and early post-war years. He owned a unique throw of bits from behind his head, which conquered the fans.

Winner of the USSR Championship in city sport in 1940 and 1949 [2] .

In 1949, speaking for the Torpedo-Moscow club, he set an all-Union record - 90 pieces of 150 bits [3] .
