Eurovision Song Contest 1970 became the 15th Eurovision song contest . It was held March 21, 1970 in the city of Amsterdam ( Netherlands ), at the RAI Congress Center. Finland , Norway , Sweden and Portugal decided not to participate in the contest due to disagreement with the current voting system , as a result of which the number of participants was reduced to 12. Since there were four winners last year , a draw was held to determine which country would be held next competition [1] . The draw was won by the Netherlands . The design of the competition was later recognized as the standard of stage design. Speeches by the representative of each country were first preceded by telecards.

Changes to the rules were made in order to prevent the possibility that several songs will become the winners of the contest. According to them, if the performers receive the same number of points, they must re-perform the song and all the jury, except for representatives of the countries participating in the re-singing, will again determine the winner. In the event of a repeated draw, the Grand Prix will be awarded to both countries [1] .
Performer Dana , representing Ireland , won the Grand Prix with the song “ All Kinds of Everything ”, ahead of the 6th place runner-up with the song “Knock, knock (Who's there?)” By Mary Hopkin , representing the UK . The future Spanish star Julio Iglesias took 4th place, the famous Italian singer Gianni Morandi - 8th place.
