Vladimir Gennadievich Shubin (born July 9, 1939 , Ivanovo ) is a Russian African historian, former head of a group (sector) of the International Department of the CPSU Central Committee .

Biography
In 1962 he graduated from Moscow State Institute of International Relations (specialty - international relations), was a referent of the Committee of International Organizations of the USSR . In 1962-1969 he served in the Soviet Army .
In 1969-1979 - referent, head, department, secretary in the Soviet Committee of Solidarity of the Countries of Asia and Africa , in 1982-1991 - referent, deputy head, head of the group (sector) of the International Department of the CPSU Central Committee .
In 1982 he received a Ph.D. in historical sciences, defending a dissertation at the Academy of Social Sciences under the Central Committee of the CPSU , in 1999 received a doctorate in historical sciences, defending a dissertation at the Institute of Asian and African Countries .
In 1992-1995, he was a senior researcher , since 1995 - deputy director for scientific work, since 2010 - chief researcher at the African Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences . Since 2003 - Professor, Department of History, Political Science and Law, Russian State University for the Humanities .
Since 2002 - Member of the Expert Council of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Federation Council .
In 1993-2011, he lectured at a number of universities in Africa, Asia and Europe.
Since 1998 - Member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of the South African Political Science Association Politicon, since 2010 - Member of the Editorial Board of the journal Siencia Military ( South Africa ), is a member of the Editorial Board of the magazines Asia and Africa Today (Moscow) and Journal of Globalization Stage "( Volgograd ).
