Life

Princess Elizabeth Carolina is the daughter of Prince of Wales Frederick , the son of King George II and his wife, Princess of Wales Augusta , nee Princess of Saxe-Coburg. Born January 10, 1741 at Norfolk House in London . She was baptized 25 days after being born by Bishop of Oxford, Thomas Seker. Her godmothers were Margrave Brandenburg-Ansbach Karl Wilhelm Friedrich (cousin), Queen of Denmark Sofia Magdalena Brandenburg-Kulmbach and Duchess of Saxe-Coburg . [one]

Little is known about the short life of the princess, except for a fragment from Walpole's Letter [2] :

We have lost our friend, the young princess Elizabeth. She died within two days from intestinal inflammation. Her figure was charming, amazing. I saw her when she, along with her brothers and sisters, played the Caton tragedy at the age of eight. She played much better than any of her sisters and brothers. The princess was in fragile health, but she learned to read, and when she learned that she would play the role of Lucy, she asked her parents not to participate in the performance, but they dissuaded her. The princess played her role righteously. [3]

The princess died on September 4, 1759 at the age of 18 at Kew Palace. Buried in Westminster Abbey .
