Story

In 1931, by a decision of the Labor and Defense Council , it was decided to build three plants for the production of sodium butadiene rubber from edible alcohol according to the method of Sergey Lebedev (who won the All-Union Exhibition of National Economy for the Best Industrial Method for the Synthesis of Rubbers) in Yaroslavl ( SK-1 ), Efremov and Voronezh (SK-2). The Voronezh plant was erected within a year, on October 19, 1932 (4 months after the launch of SK-1) the first ton of products was received.

By 1934, the plant reached its design capacity, releasing 125 thousand tons of products. In the same year, the plant was named after Sergei Mironovich Kirov .

In October 1941, when the German army approached Voronezh, the plant was evacuated, rubber production was discontinued. During the Great Patriotic War, the apparatchik of the 3rd workshop Grigory Mylnikov twice became the Hero of the Soviet Union , the apparatchik of the workshop 6-8 Vasily Putilin - Hero of the Soviet Union . In September 1947, production at the plant was restored.

In 1949, production of the first Soviet emulsion divinyl styrene rubber and styrene was mastered, and in 1950 a nekal production workshop was built. In 1956, the production of oil-filled rubber was mastered, in 1959 the USSR’s first commodity latex workshop began work, and in 1962 the construction of workshops for the production of stereoregular butadiene rubbers (SKD) began.

In 1964, the first stage of biological treatment facilities was commissioned, until this time untreated sewage was discharged into the Voronezh River .

The production of rosin rubber without oil for the shoe industry was mastered in 1966, and the production of polybutadiene rubber began in 1967. In 1977, the millionth ton of styrene was produced at the enterprise. In 1986, for production achievements, the plant’s director Leonid Kudryavtsev was awarded the title Hero of Socialist Labor .

In 2011, construction of a new production of styrene-butadiene thermoplastic elastomers (TEP-50, used in road construction) with a capacity of 50 thousand tons per year and the installation of a plant for the production of gaseous nitrogen and dry compressed air necessary for the production of basic materials began on the territory of the enterprise.

On May 23, 2013, Vladimir Putin launched the commissioning work at the newly constructed production complex [4] .
