The administrative center is the city of Aleisk , which is not part of the district and is located 120 km from Barnaul .
Geography
Located in the central part of the region, in the forest-steppe zone. The relief is an underdeveloped plain, dissected by rivers and ravines. In the district discovered deposits of brick clay . The climate is transitional from sharply continental to temperate. Average January temperature: −17.6 ° C; July: +20 ° C. The annual rainfall is 440 mm.
On the territory of the district there are 7 rivers, 7 large lakes, including Bakhmatovsky , Srednyaya and several small ones. Soils: meadow chernozem, ordinary chernozem , in the northern part there are solonetzic and solonchak soils . The territory of the district is a forest-steppe with chippings , mainly birch, and field-protecting forest belts from poplar , birch , maple , elm, small-leaved, yellow acacia . In the northwest is Barnaul ribbon boron , with a width of 8 to 10 km.
History
The lands of the present Aleysky region began to be inhabited by Cossacks , schismatics , runaway peasants and townspeople from the European part of Russia in the 18th century . Most villages originated on rivers and lakes. Earlier others, the villages of Kashino (1726), Uryupino (1729), Yarovskaya (Bolshe-Panyushovo) (1710), Borovsky (1765), Bezgolosovo (1710), Savinka (1747) were founded.
In 1913, during the construction of the Turkestan-Siberian Railway, the Aleiskiy substation village appeared.
From May 1918 to December 3, 1919, the Civil War was fought on Alei land. In June 1920, Soviet power was finally established.
In 1924, by the resolution of the meeting of the Sibrevkom on May 27, 1924, the Aleysky district was formed with the center in the village. Aleisk. It included Panyushovskaya, Oskolkovskaya volosts, the village of Kabakovo, pos. Novo-Alekseevsky Nechunaevsky volost, pos. Kondratyevsky Barnaul volost, the village of Plotava, pos. Vasilievsky, Yasnaya Polyana, 1st and 2nd Friendship Vorobievsky Volosts of Rubtsovsky Uyezd.
Until 1929, communes and partnerships for joint land cultivation were created in the region, then mass collectivization began. During the period from 1929 to 1933, 76 collective farms were formed.
The rapid development of the city of Aleisk (city status was assigned in 1939) and the district took place during the years of development of virgin lands . Sown areas have expanded on 31,000 ha. For three virgin years, farmers in the region sold 158,000 pounds of bread to the state.

On December 4, 2013, the Aleksandrovsky , Vetelsky and Sovkhoz Village Councils were merged into a State Farm Village Council with an administrative center in the village of Sovkhoznoye [15] , Kabakovsky and Kashinsky Village Councils were merged into a Kashinsky Village Council with an administrative center in the village of Kashin .

Economics
The agricultural specialization of the region is crop production with the predominant cultivation of grain crops , as well as dairy and beef cattle breeding . The food and processing industry in the area is represented by a brewery and utility workshops for processing agricultural products. There are two workshops for the production of vegetable oil, 5 mills , 15 bakeries, one groats shop.
A railway ( Turkestino-Siberian Railway ) and the federal highway A322 Barnaul - Rubtsovsk - the border with the Republic of Kazakhstan pass through the region.
