Story
The game takes place 17 years after the events of Soulcalibur IV . Patroclus, the son of the main character in previous games in the Sophitia series, preys on “infected” people who are crazy about Soul Edge and seeks out their sister Pierre. After the betrayal of Lord Dumas (hereinafter referred to as the Nightmare), which he served, he sets off in search of his sister, who has already become infected, thanks to Tyra . Later, Patroclus becomes the new owner of the legendary sword “Soul Calibur”, and Pyrrhus, respectively, receives a “Soul Edge”. The main character is looking for a way to save his sister from the influence of Soul Edge, since according to legend, any holder of the Soul Calibur sword is obligated to kill the owner of the Soul Edge sword.
Gameplay
As in previous games in the series, Soulcalibur V is a fighting game where weapons are present. The player attacks the opponent through a series of attacks and jumps, but at the same time, the characters can block them. The game features the “Critical Edge” system (from the English - “Critical Edge”), which allows the player to restore hit points and use various special attacks.
Soulcalibur V presents several kinds of modes. In the "Story" mode, the player controls the main character of the game Patroclus, passing through a series of fights. Fights are divided into twenty episodes. "Arcade" mode ( English Arcade ) allows the player to control any character from the game who needs to fight for a time with six opponents. In addition, Soulcalibur V has a “Quick Battle” mode (from the English - “Fast Battle”), which allows players to unlock the online functions of the game and opens the additional “Legendary Souls” mode.
Like the previous games in the series, Soulcalibur V also has various multiplayer modes, which allows players to play online and in a game for two. Character creation mode ( English character creation ) is also present in the game. There are also costumes borrowed from heroes from another Namco Bandai Tekken series : Jun Kazama , Asuka Kazama , Ling Xiaoy and King II and the Devil Jin fighting style.
Characters
In total, the game has 28 playable characters, of which 10 are new [1] . Among them are two versions of Pyrrha ( Eng. Pyrrha ) and Patroclus ( Eng. Patroklos ) [2] . The game appeared the fortuneteller Viola ( Eng. Viola ) and the mysterious Zwei ( Eng. ZWEI ). Several new characters use the fighting styles of the previous characters in the series: Natsu ( Natsu ) has the same tricks as Taki ( English ), instead of Xianhua - the daughter of Yang Leixia and Shiba, who uses the fighting style of Kilik ) Among the game characters, there is the main character of the Assassin's Creed series, Ezio Auditore da Firenze ( English Ezio Auditore da Firenze ). Characters like Mitsurugi, Cervantes, and Nightmare have returned to the game.
As a non-playable hero, the producer and creator of Tekken Katsuhiro Harada (as “Harada TEKKEN”) appears in the “Fast Fight” mode.

Game Development
The petition for Soulcalibur V was posted on Facebook and caught the attention of Tekken series producer Katsuhiro Harada . He accepted the offer and promised to talk about the creation of the new Soulcalibur game. In 2010, the head of the new game, Daisi Odashima, tweeted a text with the headline: “SC is back!” ( SC is back! ). December 25, 2010 it was announced that the new game in the Soul series is being developed under the leadership of the new director [3] . At the end of April 2011, Daisi Odashima tweeted that he would be able to post something in mid-May [4] . Soulcalibur V was officially announced by Namco Bandai on May 11, 2011 [5] .
CyberConnect2 worked on the game’s story mode, releasing such series of games as .hack // and Naruto: Ultimate Ninja [6] . It was originally planned that the story would be four times longer, but due to lack of time and a limited number of developers, it had to be reduced [7] .
For those people who made the reservation, the playable character Dampierre from Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny was included [8] . The collector's edition of Soulcalibur V included a game in a special package, a game soundtrack, an art book, a DVD with materials on the creation of the game, and exclusive downloadable costumes of the dark and white knights for the hero creation mode [9] .
Downloadable Content
Namco has released additional downloadable content for the game. The first addition is called “Launch Day” ( Eng. - “Launch Day”), which includes various items for creating characters, and music from Soul Edge and Soulcalibur .
Content released on February 14, 2012, Valentine's Day , included new character creation items and music from Soulcalibur II and Soulcalibur III . On February 28, the number of items was expanded and music from Soulcalibur IV and Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny became available. Music tracks are also available separately [10] . The developers plan to release all other additions once a month [7] .
