Biography
Malcolm II came to power, killing his predecessor Kenneth III .
During his reign, Malcolm II repeatedly fought with England . The first time he invaded Northumbria in 1006 , but was defeated. After this defeat, the British captured the city of Durham and "decorated" its walls with the severed heads of the Scots, washed and neatly combed. Women who took care of the appearance of their heads were awarded with Jarl Uhtred : each of them received a cow. Malcolm gathered his strength for a long time, wanting revenge. In 1018, near Karem on Tweed, he inflicted a crushing defeat on Uhtred’s brother Eadwulf Kudel . After that, all the lands before Tweed became part of Scotland. The King of Denmark and England, Knud the Great, tried in 1031 to conquer these lands, but failed.
Malcolm II bequeathed the Scottish throne to his grandson Duncan , the son of his eldest daughter Betok .
