Biography
George Borodin was born on December 26, 1918 in the village of Yarlukovo (now the Gryazinsky District of the Lipetsk Region ) in a peasant family. After finishing eight grades of secondary school, he worked as a carpenter of a construction and installation office in the Voronezh Region . In September 1939, Borodin was called up to serve in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . He served as a rifleman for the protection of airfield property in the 1st High-Speed Bomber Aviation Regiment in Rostov-on-Don , and since February 1941 - in the city of Lida, Grodno Region, Belarusian SSR [1] .
From June 1941 - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. He walked the path from the shooter to the platoon commander. He participated in battles in the Western , Voronezh and 1 st Ukrainian fronts. In 1943 he joined the VKP (b) . During the fights he was wounded and contused three times. He participated in defensive battles in Belarus in 1941, the battle of Smolensk , the battle for Moscow , the battles on the Don, the Ostrogozhsko-Rossoshanskoy and Belgorod operations. By September 1943, Senior Sergeant Georgy Borodin commanded the guns of the 12th anti-tank artillery regiment of the 10th tank corps of the 40th army of the Voronezh front. Distinguished during the battle for the Dnieper [1] .
September 29, 1943, despite the enemy fire, crossed the Dnieper near the village of Monastyrok Kagarlyk district, Kiev region, Ukrainian SSR . On September 30, at the Bukrin bridgehead, he took part in repelling six German counterattacks, during which he destroyed 2 tanks , 2 cars, 4 machine guns and more companies of enemy soldiers and officers [1] .
He participated in the liberation of the city of Ovruch , Rivne-Lutsk , Lviv-Sandomierz operations , battles on the Sandomierz bridgehead , the Vistula-Oder operation , the forcing of the Oder , the Prague operation [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated May 16, 1944, "Sergeant Borodin was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and Medal "Gold Star" for the number 8033 [1] .
In 1946, Borodin graduated from the second Kiev self-propelled artillery school named after Frunze, after which he was commander of the self-propelled unit in the Kiev military district . In 1948, with the rank of junior lieutenant , he was transferred to the reserve. He graduated from the party school at the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine, in 1964 - the Railway Transport Technical School , after which he worked as an instructor for the Kiev-Passenger railroad section of the South-Western Railway . He lived in Kiev , died August 31, 1998, was buried at the Kiev cemetery " Berkovtsy " [1] .
He was also awarded the Order of the Red Banner , two orders of the Patriotic War , 1st degree, Orders of the Patriotic War, 2nd degree and Glory , 3rd degree, as well as a number of medals. Honorary railroad [1] .
