Biography
Victor Borodin was born on June 6, 1923 in the village of Prilepy, Timsk Uyezd (now Zarechye, Manturovsky District, Kursk Region ) into a peasant family. In childhood, he moved to the city of Kremennaya, Lugansk region, Ukrainian SSR . He graduated from nine classes of the school. In July 1941 he was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In 1943 he graduated from the Voroshilovgrad Military Aviation Pilot School. Since May 1943 - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. He went from a ground attack pilot to deputy squadron commander. Participated in battles on the Voronezh , 1st and 4th Ukrainian fronts. He took part in the Battle of Kursk , the liberation of Ukraine, the battle for the Dnieper , Zhytomyr-Berdychiv , Proskurov-Chernivtsi , Lviv-Sandomir , East Carpathian , Jaslo-Gorlitskaya , Carpathian-Krakow , Moravian-Ostrava and Prague operations. Towards the end of the war, Senior Lieutenant Viktor Borodin was deputy squadron commander of the 565th assault air regiment of the 224th assault air division of the 8th assault aviation corps of the 8th air army of the 4th Ukrainian Front [1] .
By April 1945, Borodin made 120 sorties to attack enemy troop concentrations, causing him severe damage. Repeatedly was the leader in groups of 6-9 aircraft [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of August 18, 1945 for “exemplary performance of command missions at the front of the struggle against Nazi invaders and courage and heroism displayed at the same time”, senior lieutenant Viktor Borodin was awarded the high rank of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and a medal The Golden Star, numbered 8574 [1] .
After the war, Borodin continued to serve in the Soviet Army. He served in the Central Group of Forces and the Carpathian Military District . In 1950 he joined the CPSU (b) . In 1957, with the rank of major , he was transferred to the reserve. He lived in the city of Chernivtsi , worked as an economist in the regional department of construction and operation of roads. He died on June 26, 1993, was buried at the Central Cemetery in Chernivtsi [1] .
He was also awarded three orders of the Red Banner , orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st and 2nd degrees, the Order of the Red Star , as well as a number of medals [1] .
