Biography
Sergey Borisyuk was born on March 20, 1924 in the village of Grigorovka (now Obukhov district of the Kiev region of Ukraine ) into a peasant family. Received primary education. The first years of the war lived in the occupied territory. In November 1943 he was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army and sent to the front. He was a scout of the 797th Infantry Regiment of the 232nd Infantry Division of the 40th Army of the 2nd Ukrainian Front . Distinguished himself during the forcing of the Dniester [1] .
On March 25, 1944, Borisyuk, at the head of the group, crossed the Dniester in the area of the Serebril village of the Mogilyov-Podolsky district of the Vinnitsa region of the Ukrainian SSR . Borisyuk’s group reconnoitered the front line of the enemy’s defense and captured 2 prisoners. The next day, as a result of a sortie, the group destroyed 7 enemy soldiers, and 3 more were captured. March 30, 1944 Borisyuk again led the reconnaissance group, which forced Prut and with a sudden attack captured the village of Pereryta, Briceni district of the Moldavian SSR , which ensured the battalion a successful crossing across the river [1] .
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of September 13, 1944, Red Army soldier Sergei Borisyuk was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the awarding of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal number 4251 [1] .
In March 1947, Borisyuk was demobilized. He lived in Volgograd , worked as a foreman at the transshipment base of a woodworking plant. He died on June 4, 1998, was buried in Volgograd [1] .
He was also awarded the orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st and 2nd degrees, the Order of the Red Star , as well as a number of medals [1] .
