The Mausoleum of Georgy Dimitrov is a tomb monument to the leader of Bulgaria, erected in 1949 by architects G. Ovcharov, R. Ribarov and I. Danchov [1] . It was blown up in August 1999.

History
In 1949, the mummified body of Georgy Dimitrov in a sarcophagus made under the leadership of Nikanor Kurochkin [2] was placed in a specially constructed mausoleum on Alexander I Square in Sofia .
In 1990 , according to the official version, the Bulgarian Communist Party, at the request of relatives, decided to rebury the body. July 18, 1990 the body of George Dimitrov was taken out of the mausoleum and later reburied in the central cemetery of Sofia. On February 25, 1992, the Community Council of Sofia decided to demolish the mausoleum. In August 1999, the building was blown up on the fifth attempt, debris was taken out by cars and dismantled for souvenirs. In place of the ruins created a concreted area.
Documentary footage with the mausoleum was shown in the video hall of the Museum of Socialist Art in Sofia .
