The Kingdom of Briecheinhog was formed on the basis of the ancient kingdom of Garth Madryn (probably with a center in Talgart ), when Brihan , the son of an Irish ruler named Allah ap Cormac , married Marhel , the heir to the throne of Garth Madryn. According to the hagiographic tradition (not only Welsh, but also Cornish and Breton ), Brihan (later canonized) and Marhel had many children, most of whom were also revered as saints.
Brikhan passed the throne to his grandson Ryan the Red-faced , who founded the dynasty of the kings of Brikheinyoga. In the middle of the 7th century, by means of a dynastic marriage, Bricheynio for three generations was united with Dywed , but in the middle of the 8th century it became independent again, although there were some debates about succession to the throne. Around 760, the Britons of Briceinog, in alliance with the rulers of Powys and Gwent, were defeated at the , the army of Mercia and Wessex [1] [2] .
In the 880s, Alidad ap Theudra recognized the power of the Anglo-Saxon king Alfred , and his descendant Grifid divided the kingdom into three countries - Einion Talgart, Teudr and Seliv, which fell under the rule of the Norman Lords.
It is likely that Maredid ap Owain ruler of Deheybart once controlled the territory of Briecherioga [3] .
The name Brikheinioga is retained in the name of the traditional county of Brecknokshire , as well as the Brecon Beacons National Park ( Wall. Mannau Brycheiniog ) (Brecon - English broadcast named after Brihan).
