Hartwig's father is a Russian mother from a family of Germans who worked at the Glass factory of Riting. In 1940, Nikolai Hartwig entered the Leningrad Flight School. Soon, Hartwig's father was repressed, he was expelled from school, and at the beginning of World War II he fell into the penal battalion . He fought on the Leningrad Front until the end of the blockade , was awarded the medals " For Courage ", " For the Defense of Leningrad ." He finished the war as an officer and after demobilization he returned to his native village, where he began to work as a physical education teacher at Siverskaya secondary school. Hartwig began playing in the local football team, where he was spotted and invited to Zenit . He played unsuccessfully as an attacker and was transferred to the center of defense, and a few years later - to the flank. He did not have speed data, because of which he often and harshly fouled, he also received many injuries. In total, in 1947-1955 he played 153 games for Zenit in the championship, 13 games in the Cup, scored 1 goal.
At the same time he studied at the Institute. Lesgaft . After the playerβs career ended, until 1968 he was a Zenit coach, educating Pavel Sadyrin , among others. Tragically died in 1978.
After the death of Hartwig, a tournament of regional football teams for the Hartwig Cup began to be held in Druzhnaya Gorka, later childrenβs teams began to take part in it, and then veterans. In August 2003, a memorial sign in honor of Hartwig was installed in the village. [one]
