Flavius Sabinian ( Latin Flavius Sabinianus ; mentioned in 505-508) - politician and commander of the Byzantine Empire , consul (in 505).
Biography
Sabinian was the son of Sabinian Magna , who served as magister militum per Illyricum (commander of the troops in Illyric ) (479–481). Sabininan was also the brother of Flavius Moschian , who was consul in 512. He was married to the niece of Emperor Anastasius I and was the father of Flavius Anastasius Pavel Probe Sabinian Pompey Anastasius , consul of 517 years.
In 505, Sabinian served as consul, while in 508 he was appointed magister militum per Illyricum . He had a well-equipped army, but in 505 near the Gorreum Marga (modern Chupria ) he was defeated by the combined army of Mund and the Ostrogoths of the Pitza comet . After the defeat, he fled with several survivors to the Nath fortress [1] [2] .
