Mountain Nyala [1] ( lat. Tragelaphus buxtoni ) - a species of forest antelope . The species was discovered by Major Ivor Buxton (1884-1969) in 1909 , classified in 1910 [2] .

RangeRange - mountain forests , shrubby wastelands and mid- mountain grassy plains of central Ethiopia between 6 ° and 10 ° northern latitude .
View - endemic to the Ethiopian Highlands and the Great Rift Valley . The inaccessibility of the areas makes mountain nyala one of the rarest and least studied antelopes . Animals usually live at an altitude of 2000 m above sea level , sometimes reaching 3500–3800 m and above. [3]
View DescriptionMountain nyala is similar to large and small kudu , as well as to the plain nyala , which lives in southern Africa . The length of the body reaches a length of 150-180 cm , the height at the withers about a meter. The mass of adult animals is 150-300 kg .
Females look like males , but much smaller and without horns . In males, the length of the horns can exceed 100 cm.
