Biography

Boris Borisov was born on July 24, 1917 in the village of Bolshaya Beketovka (now the Veshkaymsky district of the Ulyanovsk Region ) into a peasant family. After graduating from seven grades of the school, he worked as a cultural massager at the factory. In June 1940 he was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In 1941 he graduated from the Kharkov Military-Political School, in 1942 - courses "Shot". Since July 1942 - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. In the same year he joined the CPSU (b) . By September 1943, the Guard Captain Boris Borisov commanded a battalion of the 184th Guards Rifle Regiment of the 62nd Guards Rifle Division of the 37th Army of the Steppe Front . He distinguished himself during the battle of the Dnieper [1] .

On September 28, 1943, Borisov’s battalion crossed the Dnieper in the vicinity of the village of Mishurin Rog of the Verkhnedneprovsky District of the Dnepropetrovsk Region of the Ukrainian SSR and seized the bridgehead . For four days, the battalion fighters repelled the counterattacks of the German troops, destroying 9 tanks and a large number of enemy manpower [1] .

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of December 20, 1943, Captain Boris Borisov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the awarding of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal [1] .

After the war he continued his service in the Soviet Army. In 1955, with the rank of Major Borisov, he was transferred to the reserve. He lived in the city of Barysh of the Ulyanovsk Region , worked as a hunting expert at the State Hunting Inspection. He died on April 25, 1973 [1] .

He was also awarded the Order of the Red Star and a number of medals [1] .
