The Old Believer Church restored by the villagers

The village of Pilipy-Khrebtievsky was founded in 1735 by Russian Old Believers - the pilonons (where the name of the village comes from), who came here from the territory of modern Kursk and Oryol regions .

In 1835, 121 Old Believers lived in the village, 1857 - 380, 1864 - 402, 1868 - 770. In 2005, 806 Old Believers lived in the village.

The village of Pilipy-Khrebtievsky is one of the largest Old Believer Russian villages. Residents of the village follow the customs of the Old Believers: men wear beards, women cover their heads with scarves. In addition to the Russian Old Believers, on the outskirts of the village there are several houses with Orthodox Ukrainians and Catholic Catholics.

In the village is the only school in the Khmelnitsky region with the Russian language of instruction, one of the buildings of which was built in 1886 and is an architectural monument [1] . In 1929, the Old Believer church was destroyed, restored by the villagers in 1990. In the village area there is a monument of archeology of all-Ukrainian significance - a settlement of the period of Kievan Rus .
