Rustica ( Greek Ρούστικα [1] ) is a village in Greece on the island of Crete . Enters into the community (dim) of Rethymnon in the peripheral unit of Rethymnon in the periphery of Crete . The population of 150 inhabitants according to the 2011 census [1] .

There are many shrines of pan-Orthodox importance in Rustik, which attracts pilgrims and tourists [2] .
Rustica is located 20 kilometers southwest of the city of Rethymnon at an altitude of 290 m [3] , at the foot of the hill Ambelos ( Άμπελος ). The village existed before the conquest of Crete by the Venetians . The name may come from Arabic. رستاق rōstāg , which means village, and it is believed that the Venetians adapted the name from their language as Roustika . There is also an opinion that it comes from lat. rustico - rural, rustic, peasant [4] .

The local community of Rustik includes two settlements. The population of 203 is 2011 census [1] . The area is 4.55 square kilometers [5] .
