Vetter, Ivan Ivanovich

Vetter Ivan Ivanovich (1796 -?) - Russian poet and translator.

Information about it is scarce. He served in St. Petersburg on a counting expedition of the Admiralty and on the expedition of state revenues from 1811 to 1816. He lived and worked as a translator at the Siberian Post Office in Tobolsk since 1822. He was friends with the composer A. Alyabyev , who is in exile in Tobolsk . Alyabyev wrote romances on Vetter's texts - Irtysh (1829), Farewell to the Nightingale in the North, and Siberian Song. Vetter's death date has not been established.
