Biography

Ivan Borisenko was born on September 28, 1923 in the city of Zaporozhye (now - Ukraine ). He graduated from nine classes in high school and flying club in Zaporozhye.

In 1940 he was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In 1942 he graduated from the Kachin Military Aviation School of Pilots . Since September 1942 - on the fronts of World War II as part of the 274th fighter aviation regiment . He participated in the battles on the Stalingrad , South-West , 1st , 2nd , 4th Ukrainian fronts. In 1943 he joined the CPSU (b) . During the fighting he was wounded. By March 1945, Captain Ivan Borisenko was deputy squadron commander of the 73rd Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment of the 6th Guards Fighter Air Division of the 5th Air Army of the 2nd Ukrainian Front [1] .

By March 1945, Borisenko made 245 sorties, took part in 63 air battles, in which he personally shot down 23 planes and 1 balloon , and 2 planes and 2 balloons as part of the group. In total, during the war Borisenko made 260 sorties, took part in 70 air battles, shot down 26 aircraft in person and 2 in the group [1] . , according to other sources - shot down 23 aircraft in person and 1 in the group [2] . In addition, he shot down 1 balloon personally and 2 in a pair.

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of May 15, 1945, for the "exemplary fulfillment of command assignments and the courage and heroism shown in battles with the Nazi invaders" of the guard, Captain Ivan Borisenko was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Golden Star medal under the number 6324.

After the war, Borisenko continued to serve in the Soviet Army. In 1953, he graduated from the Air Force Academy, mastered several varieties of jet fighters. In 1975, with the rank of Colonel Borisenko was sacked. He lived and worked in Kiev . He died on April 22, 1988. [1]

He was also awarded three orders of the Red Banner , orders of Bogdan Khmelnitsky 3rd degree, World War 1 degree, the Red Banner of Labor , " For Service to the Homeland in the Armed Forces of the USSR ", two orders of the Red Star, as well as a number of medals [1] .
