Biography
Vasily Borisenko was born in 1923 in the village of Boris (now the Globinsky district of the Poltava region of Ukraine ) into a peasant family. After completing seven years of junior high school, he attended high school in the village of Pirogi . In 1940 he was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. In 1942, Borisenko graduated from the Kharkov Artillery School. From January 1943 - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War, commanded a platoon of artillery batteries of the 42nd rifle regiment of the 180th rifle division of the 38th Army of the Voronezh Front . In 1943 he joined the VKP (b) [1] .
In the area of the village of Pasyukovo, Borisenko's platoon destroyed 5 fire points and several dozen German soldiers and officers. During the fighting for Kharkov , Borisenko’s platoon destroyed 2 tanks , a mine installation, and 4 machine guns . At the station Kolomak gunners destroyed 2 armored vehicles, a staff vehicle, a 75-mm gun, 3 machine guns. September 28, 1943 during the crossing of the Dnieper near the village of New Petrovtsy, Vyshgorodsky district, Kiev region of the Ukrainian SSR, a platoon crossed over to the west bank as part of infantry units and opened fire directly, which allowed the Soviet units to make a crossing with minor losses. Artillery destroyed 4 dzot , several tanks and several dozen enemy soldiers with fire from guns [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated January 10, 1944, Lieutenant Vasily Borisenko was awarded the honorary title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal number 1772 for “exemplary performance of the military missions of the command and the courage and heroism shown at the same time [1 ] .
January 10, 1945 Borisenko died in Budapest during the fighting for the city. Buried in Budapest [1] .
He was also awarded a number of medals. In honor of Borisenko named street in the village of Boris. At the school in the village of Pirogi, where he studied, a memorial plaque was installed [1] .
