Biography

Ivan Andrianovich Borin was born on January 25, 1908 in a peasant family in the village of Podvernikha in the Insarsk district of the Penza province (now in the Staroshaigovsky district of the Republic of Mordovia ). Russian Received primary education. Before conscription, he worked on a collective farm .

I. A. Borin was called up to the ranks of the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army by the Staroshaigovsky District Military Commissariat of the Mordovian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic on December 25, 1941. He graduated from the school of junior commanders. In battles with the Nazi invaders, Junior Sergeant I.A. Borin from August 1942 on the Western Front as part of the 7th Guards Cavalry Regiment of the 2nd Guards Cavalry Division of the 1st Guards Cavalry Corps of the 16th Army . In one of the first battles to repulse the German counterattack near Zhizdra on August 14, 1942, Ivan Andrianovich showed high military skill and genuine heroism. The enemy threw two infantry battalions against the squadron of the regiment with the support of tanks. Pulling the gun to an open position, I. A. Borin opened hurricane fire at the enemy’s armored vehicles and their firing points. Thanks to well-coordinated work and stamina, Borin’s calculation helped to repel the enemy’s three violent counterattacks, destroying two medium tanks, 12 easel machine guns and over an infantry platoon.

In February 1943, Ivan Andrianovich fought in the Third Battle of Kharkov . The 1st Guards Cavalry Corps, part of the 6th Army of the Voronezh Front, reflected the counterattack of the Nazi troops near Kharkov , gaining a foothold on the border of the Seversky Donets River . On March 21, 1943, squadrons of the 7th Guards Cavalry Regiment near the village of Stary Saltov were attacked by large enemy infantry forces of up to two battalions with the support of 6 tanks and self-propelled artillery installations. Disguising his gun in the bushes, guards sergeant I.A. Borin fired accurately at the enemy with direct fire, destroying 2 heavy tanks, 1 self-propelled guns , 6 mortars, 4 machine guns and 3 light machine guns, 6 cars and 9 carts with the reflection of seven enemy counterattacks ammunition and about 50 soldiers and officers of the Wehrmacht , which contributed to the retention of the lines occupied by cavalrymen. In the summer of 1943, Ivan Andrianovich participated in the Donbass operation on the Southwestern Front .

In the second half of September, the 1st Guards Cavalry Corps was again subordinated to the Voronezh Front (from October 20, 1943 - the 1st Ukrainian Front ). Guard Sergeant I. A. Borin as part of his unit took part in the Battle of the Dnieper and in battles for the bridgehead on the right bank of the river. On October 7, 1943, units of the 2nd Guards Cavalry Corps crossed the Dnieper at the village of Okuninovo [1] , and on October 9, its 7th Guards Cavalry Division crossed the Teterev River and captured the village of Zatonsk [2] . On October 10, 1943, the corps with the forces of the 2nd and 7th Guards Cavalry Divisions expanded the captured bridgehead to 7 kilometers in depth. The Germans threw against the cavalry units of the 7th and 8th tank divisions. In fierce battles near the Zatonsky Guard, Sergeant I. A. Borin, fighting in extremely difficult conditions in a wooded area, knocked out two German Panther tanks, burned an armored personnel carrier, destroyed 4 mortars, 3 machine guns and six light machine guns, 1 75- millimeter gun and 40 soldiers. On November 8, 1943, in the battle for the village of Kalinovka, Ivan Andrianovich helped repel the enemy counterattack. Having let the German tanks close, he hit the main medium tank from the first shot, forcing the rest to retreat. Then, conducting heavy fire on German infantry, he destroyed up to 50 enemy soldiers and officers. Sergeant I.A. Borin completed the 1943 guard campaign by participating in the liberation of Zhytomyr . In street battles for the city, his calculation burned one medium tank and 3 vehicles with ammunition, destroyed 4 machine gun points and exterminated over 20 enemy soldiers.

In winter and spring of 1944, Ivan Andrianovich, as part of his unit, took part in the liberation of Right-Bank Ukraine ( Rivne-Lutsk operation ). Memorable for him was the battle for Chervonoarmeysk station. The enemy armored train , standing at the station, fired hurricane at the advancing Soviet units. The 45 mm cannon could not cause serious harm to enemy equipment, but this did not stop the guard of Sergeant Borin. With great risk to his life, he put his gun to an open position and with a well-aimed shot repelled the barrel of the gun of an armored train, which made the enemy machine hastily retire from the battlefield. At the station, Borin’s crew also destroyed 1 self-propelled guns, 2 37 mm cannons, two tractors with ammunition and 20 enemy soldiers. On February 29, 1944, in a battle for the village of Gnidava [3] on the left bank of the Styr River, Ivan Andrianovich demonstrated "exceptional examples of selflessness, courage and courage" by destroying one medium tank, 3 easel machine guns and two light machine guns and more than 20 enemy soldiers.

The next stage of the battle path of I.A. Borin was the Lviv-Sandomierz operation , during which his calculation excelled during the liquidation of the German group surrounded by Brody . The enemy, trying to break out of the cauldron, launched a desperate counterattack. On July 19, 1944, a group of German soldiers managed to get around the position of the Borin gun and surround it, but the gunners fired hurricane fire at the enemy and scattered enemy machine gunners. Ivan Andrianovich was wounded, but continued to command the gun. Reflecting a breakthrough attempt at his own site, with his calculation, he destroyed 1 tank, 3 tractors with heavy artillery, 3 cars, and 12 carts with ammunition and military equipment. Loss of the enemy in manpower amounted to 20 people. Another 5 German soldiers surrendered. At the end of August 1944, an anti-fascist uprising began in the eastern regions of Czechoslovakia . Trying to assist the rebels, the Soviet command as soon as possible planned and carried out the Carpathian-Duklinsk operation . Guard Sergeant I.A. Borin, as part of one of the squadrons of the 7th Guards Cavalry Regiment, took part in a raid of parts of the corps on enemy rear lines. In the battle for the Slovak village of Polyany ( Trebisov district), his calculation acted heroically. Under mountainous and wooded terrain, under the fierce artillery and mortar fire of the enemy, Ivan Andrianovich with his fighters shot down 1 self-propelled guns, destroyed 3 75 mm guns, 4 81 mm mortar shells, and destroyed up to 25 enemy soldiers, which contributed to the performance of the combat mission by the squadron. For the difference in the battles, I. A. Borin was promoted to sergeant in the guard.

The new year 1945 began with a large-scale Wisla-Oder operation , in which the Red Army carried out a number of front-line operations. During the Sandomierz-Silesian operation of the 1st Ukrainian Front in the battle for the town of Ehrenforst [4] in Upper Silesia, on January 24, 1945, with the fire of a cannon guard, Senior Sergeant I. A. Borin destroyed 4 easel and 2 light machine guns, a car and up to 20 German soldiers and officers. On January 31, 1945, quickly moving the gun over the Oder , Senior Sergeant Borin destroyed 4 enemy firing points that impeded the advance of the squadron. In the battle for holding the bridgehead in the vicinity of the settlement of Bergkirch [5] , when the gunner was wounded, Ivan Andrianovich himself stood up to the gun. On April 16, 1945, Red Army troops launched an offensive on Berlin . During the guard operation, Senior Sergeant I.A. Borin acted directly in the battle formations of the squadrons, using 57-mm guns to advance his regiment. On April 21, 1945, in the battle for the city of Ortrand, Ivan Andrianovich put down the fire of two enemy machine guns at the approaches to the village, ensuring that cavalrymen captured the village. In street battles in the city itself, his calculation destroyed a steam locomotive, 4 cars and one cart with ammunition and crushed 6 enemy firing points, destroying up to 20 German soldiers. On April 24, 1945, while crossing the Elbe River in the vicinity of the Kleinzadel settlement, 5 kilometers north-west of the city of Meissen, Ivan Andrianovich rolled his gun to the edge of the east bank and fired on the enemy’s fire weapons on the west bank of the river, providing crossing assault group. Guard Sergeant Sergeant Borin was the first in his battery to transport the gun to the captured bridgehead. During the battles for his retention, he destroyed 5 machine gun points, 7 vehicles with fuel and up to 20 enemy soldiers [6] .

Ivan Andrianovich ended the war in Czechoslovakia during the Prague operation .

For the exemplary performance of the combat missions of the command on the front of the fight against the German invaders and the courage and heroism shown by the decree of the Presidium of the USSR Supreme Council on June 27, 1945, the senior sergeant Ivan Andrianovich was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Golden Star medal " Under the number 2861 [6] .

After the war, I. A. Borin returned to his native village. He worked on the farm "Way of Lenin." After retiring for health reasons he moved to Saransk , lived on Posope . He died on January 22, 1966 [6] . He was buried in Saransk .
