Biography
Nikolai Boreev was born on February 27, 1922 in the village of Kutli (now Pichaevsky District of the Tambov Region ) in a working family. After graduating from incomplete secondary school, he entered a teacher training school in Morshansk , studied two courses. In May 1941 he entered the military artillery school in Podolsk [1] .
In October 1941, as a cadet , he participated in the battle for Moscow , after which he continued his studies. In November 1942, he graduated from college, received the military rank of lieutenant and was sent to the front of World War II. In the winter of 1942, near Mtsensk , during reconnaissance in battle , noticing a group of German infantry, the Boreev artillery battery opened fire on it, which made it possible to disrupt the counterattack planned by the enemy. For this battle, Boreev was awarded the Order of the Red Star [1] .
By November 1943, Senior Lieutenant Nikolai Boreev commanded the battery of the 1958th Fighter Anti-Tank Artillery Regiment of the 41st Fighter Anti-Tank Artillery Brigade of the 65th Army of the Belorussian Front . He distinguished himself during the liberation of the Gomel region of the Byelorussian SSR [1] .
On November 18, 1943, near the village of Korovatichi , Boreev’s battery was surrounded. For 15 hours, she fought with superior enemy forces, destroyed 3 tanks and several dozen enemy soldiers and officers. In battle, Boreev personally fired from guns, replacing the dead soldiers. In hand-to-hand battles, Boreev personally destroyed 11 enemy soldiers. Despite the injury, he remained in service. When the battery ran out of ammunition, Boreev was able to remove the survivors of his subordinates from the environment [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of February 9, 1944, for “courage, bravery and heroism shown in the struggle against the Nazi invaders,” Senior Lieutenant Nikolai Boreev was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal number 3304 [1] .
After being discharged from the hospital, he returned to his battery. He participated in the liberation of Europe, took part in the assault on Berlin . During the battles he was wounded one more time. In 1946, with the rank of lieutenant colonel Boreev, he was sacked. He lived in Morshansk, worked at a local motor transport enterprise, in 1971 - 1984 he was its director. In 1984, retired. He died on March 11, 2003 [1] .
He was also awarded the orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st and 2nd degrees, the Red Star, as well as a number of medals. A memorial plaque was installed on the house in Morshansk, where he lived [1] . The name of N. I. Boreev was assigned to secondary school N2 of the city of Morshansk.
