Story
The director of the Perkins School for the Blind, Michael Anagnons, offers a former pupil of the school, Anne Sullivan, a job in the Keller family, where the girl Helen lives, who became deafblind after suffering from scarlet fever in infancy. She often has bouts of hysteria , she does not know how to talk, walk and use cutlery . Sullivan agrees.
Sullivan's first goal is to instill in Keller the concept of discipline. She teaches Helen to use cutlery and napkins, as well as upright posture . However, Sullivan's main goal for himself is to explain to Keller that each item has a name. She demands to isolate the girl from the rest of the family in a small house, where she constantly teaches her new words that continue to mean nothing to Helen.
Two weeks of Sullivan's training data end. She is going to leave, having not achieved her task, when suddenly a sharp breakthrough occurs in the girl’s mind: she suddenly realizes that Sullivan’s special touches to her hand indicate words and, accordingly, objects. This is the first time she is trying to pronounce the word "water." The film ends with Keller and Sullivan talking with their fingers and the girl declares her love.

In a review in the TV Guide weekly, the picture is described as “excellent, terrifying, painfully frank and sometimes cruel” [3] . In Time Out, the film was reviewed as a “stunningly impressive work of art” [4] .
