Biography
Victor Bordunov was born on September 24, 1920 in the city of Kharkov in a working class family. Received an incomplete secondary education. In 1939 he was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. Since 1941 - on the fronts of World War II. He participated in the battles on the North Caucasian , 1st Ukrainian , 1st and 2nd Belorussian fronts. By June 1944, Sergeant Viktor Bordunov was an assistant commander of the rifle platoon of the 664th rifle regiment of the 130th rifle division of the 28th army of the 1st Belorussian front . He distinguished himself during the liberation of the Byelorussian SSR [1] .
On June 28, 1944, Bordunov, replacing the platoon commander who died in battle, successfully defeated a German ambush on the right bank of the Ptich River near the village of Kozel of the Polesskaya (now Gomel ) region. The fighters of the platoon of Bordunov forced the enemy to retreat, inflicting heavy losses on manpower and equipment. The actions of the platoon contributed to the successful completion of the combat mission by the battalion [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 24, 1945, for “exemplary performance of command missions on the front of the struggle against Nazi invaders and the courage and heroism shown at the same time,” Sergeant Viktor Bordunov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the medal “ Golden Star ” under the number 8034 [1] .
In 1945 he joined the CPSU (b) . After the war, the rank of senior sergeant Bordunov was demobilized. He lived and worked in Kharkov. He died on February 4, 1976 [1] .
He was also awarded a number of medals [1] .
Memory
- A memorial plaque in memory of Bordunov was erected by the Russian Military Historical Society on the building of Martynovskaya High School in the Rostov Region, where he studied.
