- March-end of April - Rebellion and unrest in Istanbul. The rebellion was quickly crushed.
- Tahmasp unsuccessfully continued the war with Turkey and lost Hamadan, Kermanshah, the city of Azerbaijan. Nadir suppressed the rebellion of the Afghans in Khorasan. Nadir deposed Tahmasp and enthroned his one-year-old son, under whom he became regent.
