Reproduction

Hippolais polyglotta

After arriving at the nesting site in early May, the males begin to sing. After mating, the female chooses a place for the future nest. A nest of grass and thin roots is often built at a height of 1 to 2 m above the ground in a dense bush or on a low tree.

While the female hatches 3-5 gray-green eggs for 12-14 days, the male supplies her with insects. After the birth of the chicks, the female also takes part in their feeding. At the age of 11–13 days, birds become independent. For at least 14 days, both parents continue to feed them.
