Biography
Ivan Fedorovich Samarkin was born in 1902 in the Erzya village of New Karmala, now in the Koshkinsky district of the Samara region [1] . Ethnic Erzyanin.
Education is primary. In the Red Army - since 1924. Member of the CPSU (b) / CPSU since 1926. In 1929 he graduated from the training courses for the commanders of the Red Army, in 1935 - machine gun courses and in 1938 - courses "Shot".
On the fronts of World War II from May 1942. He went through the whole war as a regiment commander. Participated in the defense of Moscow [2] .
He was awarded the title of Hero on January 15, 1944 for crossing the Dnieper (on the night of September 28, 1943 near the village of Novosyolky, Repkinsky District, Chernihiv Region) at the head of the 1185th Infantry Regiment of the 356th Infantry Division of the 61st Army.
After the war, he lived in the village of New Karmala, the village of Stepnaya Shentala, the village of Nadezhdino, in the village of Pogruznaya. Repeatedly elected to the village and district councils. For many years he worked in the Kirov military registration and enlistment office of the city of Kuibyshev.
He died on November 30, 1968 . He was buried in Samara at the Bezymyansky cemetery.
Rewards

Memory
On October 6, 2015, in the native village of Hero - New Karmal of the Koshkinsk district of the Samara region - a solemn event was held to open the memorial plaque to Hero of the Soviet Union Ivan Fedorovich Samarkin. The Novokarmalinsky secondary school in the year of the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory was officially named after I.F. Samarkin.
The event was attended by close relatives of the Hero of the Soviet Union - the youngest daughter Irina Ivanovna Samarkina, her son Anton Vladimirovich Samarkin, nephew on the part of his wife Yuri Nikitich Grishin, niece on the part of his wife - Serafima Nikitichna Lopukhova.
