Biography
Since 1798 he studied at Moscow University ; during his studies, he collaborated with many Moscow magazines (“A Pleasant and Useful Forwarding of Time,” 1798; “Hippocrenus, or the Pleasures of Loving” (1800-1801), wrote poems and short stories, and translated odes by Horace.
In 1800, he left the university, served in the Tambov order of public charity. Since 1801, he has been a recorder with the rank of college registrar (Moscow). In 1804 - titular adviser. Since 1808 - forwarding assistant at the Moscow Post Office, college assessor . In 1809-1819, he was a postmaster in the Kaluga province.
In the years 1823-1828. - Chairman of the Tula Chamber of the Civil Criminal Court [2] . Having retired, he lived on his estate.

Wife - Ekaterina Lukyanovna, nee Yakovleva, sister of Tsavl and Mikhail Yakovlev, lyceum friends of A. S. Pushkin [3] .
Son - Lukyan , poet.
Creativity
He owns a true story: "Brotherly love" (1798).
In 1804, he published at his own expense the collection “Ancient Russian Poems” prepared by him (the first edition of the collection of songs by Kirsha Danilov ).
As a result of his work, for the first time in the history of folklore, a collection of genuine records of Russian epics and historical songs appeared in print.
