Novikov, Nikolai Vasilievich (scientist)

Born April 10, 1932 in Kiev .
He graduated from the Faculty of Mechanics of the Kiev Polytechnic Institute (modern name is the National Technical University of Ukraine “Kiev Polytechnic Institute” ) in 1954, received a degree in mechanical engineering in automotive tractor construction. In 1957, he graduated from the graduate school of the department " Resistance of Materials ".

He defended the dissertation of a candidate of technical sciences in 1958 and a doctor of technical sciences in 1975. In 1977 he received the title of professor in the specialty " Strength of Materials and Building Mechanics ". He was elected in 1979 as a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR in the specialty “ Materials Science , Metals Strength ”, and was elected an academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR in 1985 with a degree in Materials Science , Metals Technology.

• Institute of Ceramics and Special Alloys, Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR (1957-1961),
• Institute of Problems of Materials Science of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR (1961-1966), (currently the Institute of Materials Science named after I.N. Frantsevich of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine ,
• Institute of Strength Problems of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR (1966-1977) (currently the G. S. Pisarenko Institute of Strength Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine ).

From 1977 to 2014 - Director of the Institute of Superhard Materials named after V.N. Bakul . From 2014 to the end of his life - Honorary Director of the Institute of Superhard Materials named after V.N. Bakul . National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine . General Director of the Scientific and Technological Diamond Concern (ALKON) of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine , as well as:

• Chief Researcher, Scientific Division of Research on the Physical and Mechanical Properties of Superhard Materials and Instrument Testing (Nanotesting and Special Research Laboratory) of the Institute of Superhard Materials V.N. Bakul of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine ;

• Professor, Department of Scientific Instrumentation, Institute of New Materials, National Aviation University , Kiev

• Member of the Presidium and Council of the Chamber of Commerce of Ukraine,
• Member of the Council of the Kiev Chamber of Commerce and Industry,
• President of the Charity Fund for the Promotion of Diamond Affairs (N.V. Novikov Foundation). It is registered in the Obolonsky district department of justice in Kiev of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine on May 15, 2003, No. 10-85 / 01 BF.

He died on April 7, 2017. He was buried on April 10 in the city of Kiev ^[1] .
