Overview
For the album were selected recordings made during a tour of America in 1972-1973. By that time, Bruce Johnston had left the band, Dennis Wilson switched from drums to keyboards and became one of the leading vocalists. Instead, Ricky Fataar (drums) and Blondi Chaplin (bass), who also recorded on The Beach Boys studio albums of the time, played in the group. This album was their last record with The Beach Boys. It was originally planned to release the album with one record, but then it was decided to include more records, and The Beach Boys in Concert eventually came out on two records.
By the early 1970s The Beach Boys became one of America's most touring bands; income from concerts far exceeded the profit from the production of studio products, which for the most part ceased to be popular since the late 1960s. The Beach Boys in Concert confirmed this situation, taking 25th place in the American charts; It is worth noting that the last album of the group, which reached a higher position, was 1967 Wild Honey (24th place).
